Parks Protection description

The transnational project ” Parks Protection II -Managment, Protection and Economic Development of Protected Areas ” had as an object the development of economic activities through educational tourism in important protected areas of natural environment.

The Plan has been included in the original proposal of the Local Program Approach Axis 4 LEADER of the RDP 2007-2013 LAG Parnona and implemented under Measure 421 Inter-territorial and transnational cooperation. The basic philosophy of the local outreach program LEADER Axis 4 of the RDP 2007-2013 LAG Parnona entitled “Eastern Peloponnese – from eco-development to Innovation ” is further reinforcement of successful practices implemented under the local program LEADER+, by incorporating them as key parameters, data methodological and technological innovation to create a bridge from the eco-development to innovation.

The plan was aimed at developing economic activities through educational tourism in major protected areas of natural environment. The geographical spatial units of cooperating LAGs, which implement actions under the Local Programmes LEADER, are integrated within the Network Nature 2000.

Τhe project’s strategy concerned actions such as the creation of training material, the implementation of one education week per region, the diffusion of the results and the benefits of the project, as well as its evaluation.
The actions of the project included the preparatory phase, during which development of the project took place and a main phase during which the aims and objectives of the project were delivered.

The preparatory phase included a meeting of the partners, which was held in Leonidion Kynourias (Greece) from 26th of April to 29th of April 2012. The main phase included the planning of the educational programs and the toolbox with a meeting during November 2012 which was held in England and a meeting during December 2012 which was held in Latvia.
